At Sāvatthī. Seated to one side, Venerable Rādha said to the Buddha: “Sir, they speak of having ‘impermanent nature’. What is of impermanent nature?”

Sāvatthinidānaṁ. Ekamantaṁ nisinno kho āyasmā rādho bhagavantaṁ etadavoca: “‘aniccadhammo, aniccadhammo’ti, bhante, vuccati. Katamo nu kho, bhante, aniccadhammo”ti?

“Rādha, form, feeling, perception, choices, and consciousness are of impermanent nature. Seeing this … They understand: ‘… there is nothing further for this place.’”

“Rūpaṁ kho, rādha, aniccadhammo, vedanā aniccadhammo, saññā aniccadhammo, saṅkhārā aniccadhammo, viññāṇaṁ aniccadhammo. Evaṁ passaṁ …pe… nāparaṁ itthattāyāti pajānātī”ti. Catutthaṁ.
